Brooke Ray was my midwife for my two children and I highly recommend her. Professional, warm, great communication and fantastic professionally. She is knowledgeable and experienced and I refer everyone to her. The best!

Brooke is our Fairy Godmother! We were a little panicked because we had to find a midwife for our home birth with only a few weeks left before our due date. She made us feel so well cared for, and helped us get everything ready in time for our delivery. When the day came she and her assistant came right away when we called (our labor was very quick so she showed up within 30 min and we had our baby within 30 min), helped us with labor and welcoming our baby to the world. She accomodated us with our umbilical cord burning and let us dictate how we would like our birth to go. She followed up afterwards with visits to our home to check on us (the whole family) and has helped with every step of the way. If you are reading this and searching for a midwife, stop searching and call Brook Ray! You won't find anyone better!

I am forever grateful for Brooke’s care during both of my pregnancies. I was able to labor truly undisturbed, and having both of our girls enter the world peacefully is truly the greatest gift. I am 11 weeks out of my third birth with Brooke. She is a treasure and I couldn’t imagine being with anyone but her. I want to have more babies just so I can have her as a midwife:). There are a few things that really make her practice stand out and are worth noting that would be different than other midwives. First of all she is Certified Nurse Midwife, this is the highest level of midwife and I don’t think there are any other CNMs in San Diego area doing homebirths. This means she can prescribe medication and has more years of training. She started her career in hospitals and switched to homebirth. She has a medical side that can be very helpful if there are any complications. I feel safer with her knowing she has such extensive training and experience. She works with a doctor, Dr. Lac Vu, who is the backup doc for the birth centers and many home birth moms. Twice she called him on his cell and he answered right away and spoke to her about my complication. It’s nice knowing she had a doc in her back pocket who could do a C-section in the middle of the night if needed who is fine with homebirth and knows he’s there just in case. He also will be the one to deliver if you go to the hospital. Brooke’s prenatal care is top notch. Each appt is 1 hour long and you can also text anytime. The hour allows you to also talk about feelings or anything on your mind. This build a strong relationship and I now feel like she’s apart of my family. Even if I knew I was having a C-section I would choose to have her do all my prenatal care. Brooke also does well woman care. I get my Pap smears etc from her and it is such a nice experience. It feels like what care should be. She isn’t rushing to fill her schedule, she truly cares about you and your experience. I feel loved by Brooke. I have had three births with her and each was a totally different experience and she supported be very well in each. Her words of wisdom gave me strength and her intuition is spot on. I had one hospital transfer, one water birth and one next to my bed. She helped me move into great positions with all and I never once felt scared because I knew she would always keep me safe. She’s my guardian at birth and I can’t speak more highly about her. She also comes to visit multiple times during postpartum. Not having to go to a doctor is amazing. She checks on breastfeeding and the baby and even helped teach my husband how to help me when he was struggling to know what to do. She does book up so make sure to call her early in your pregnancy. I believe she is only taking a few moms per month.

I truly can’t thank Brooke enough. She was the best support through pregnancy and truly cared for me as a whole human being. Her wealth of knowledge and experience made me feel so incredibly safe with her. I look back on my son’s pregnancy and birthday as some of the most precious times of my life, and I owe so much of that to Brooke.

After having our first child at a birthday center, we wanted to explore having a home birth for our second. The most important part for us was to find a midwife who made us comfortable through her experience and approach. Brooke was the perfect fit for us, as she had an amazing reputation in the community, tremendous experience, and knew how to ease our anxieties throughout the process. Brooke helped us navigate all the tests, scans, paperwork, and process so easily that we ultimately only needed to see a doctor once (to establish care). We couldn't have picked a better midwife team for us, and credit Brooke for helping us have a smooth pregnancy and amazing home birth!

Brooke and her team delivered all 3 of my children at home. I always found typical medical experiences to be transactional, and my experience with Brooke and her midwifery was the polar opposite of that. It felt caring and nurturing - more like a mom or sister taking care of you. Having a baby can bring about a lot of anxiety, which again, I felt was heightened by traditional doctor-patient relationships, but Brooke always helped me feel less scared, and more sure that everything would be okay, and okay with my kids. She is also extremely qualified and competent. As someone who works in the medical field, having someone competent was very important to me in addition to the nurturing experience. She was an amazing cheerleader at my births, helping me deliver a 10 lb second baby! I could not recommend her more. Highly experienced, humble, nurturing, and medically competent. Brooke was my daughters midwife and medical provider for her first time birth which was also an at-home birth. Brooke's dedication and professionalism deserves 5 stars. She made it clear to our family that while empowering our daughters choice of an a home birth, this does not always prove to be the safest option. Brooke's awareness that there are times to head to the hospital- while at the same time being incredibly supportive and knowledgeable and highly experienced with at-home births-- Well, she was a Godsend for us. My daughter delivered beautiful Logan at home med- free in the comfort and safety of our home. I don't believe it could have been done so safely and successfully without Brooke. We will always be thankful to her and her team.

As a first time mom, I highly recommend Brooke Ray as a homebirth midwife! I felt very secure knowing that the amount of experience she has as a nurse midwife, is unparalleled— just the perfect combination of medical expertise and the traditional, knowledgeable midwife model of care that I needed as a new home-birthing mama. Brooke is truly kind and chill, and made me feel very relaxed in her care, the polar opposite of how mainstream medical professionals make me feel. She showed me respect in my decision-making process as no other medical professional ever has, placing great value on my own intuition balanced with her vast amount of experience. I had a long labor, as I tried to avoid the pain of contractions, but when I was ready to embrace it she had all the right tricks and therapies to get down to business and help me birth my son— I never felt pressured, only supported! Her hands were always gentle, quick, and efficient, whether it was during birth, a Pap smear, or drawing blood for labs. Brooke and her assistant midwife in training, Brigid, were extremely patient during my long labor, professional and highly capable, yet warm and loving! Just what us women hope for. And I felt so very supported during my postpartum period, as well, which felt even more important to me as I experienced mothering a newborn for the first time! All in all, with Brooke I experienced all a woman could hope for in her midwife— a highly trained and experienced nurse, yet also an intuitive, empathetic, and loving friend. Thank you Brooke!!

What an amazing and beautiful experience. Once we decided to try having a home birth Brooke was the recommended to us by a few people we knew. We liked having her because all the experience she has and how comfortable she made us feel. From the 1st meeting to the last Brooke was very professional and felt like an old friend you could let your guard down around. Brooke made it very clear what she expected from us (the birthing team), and how things were going to go down. She held us accountable when we were slacking on our end getting materials ready, but wasn't mean. She also helped with keeping us focused on things that matter instead of things that weren't needed for the delivery. The labor was 36hours and Brooke and Brigid were available for us the whole time. We ended up having to pop the water and take homeopathic remedies to help with the labor, but Brooke talked us through all our options and made us feel safe. All in all from; pregnancy, birth, to postpartum, we had an amazing experience with Brooke and feel like she's a family friend. Once you decide to try a home birth choose Brooke to be you midwife and you will not be disappointed. Brooke and Brigid we thank you both for your professionalism and care. I can really say I know she loves helping bring this experience to you and your birthing team in a safe manner. You really could see how happy Brooke was for us once everything was done and how happy the job makes her.

Wow what can I say, Brooke Ray helped us achieve our dream home birth! She is knowledgeable, kind, considerate and very good at her job. Hiring Brooke as our midwife was worth every penny, we were in the comfort of our own home without disruption of hospital machines and nurse shift changes. We have built a great friendship over the past 9 months and we will be definitely contacting her for the birth of our next baby. I highly recommend Brooke Ray for a great home birth experience.
