Insurance coverage for midwifery services varies by plan. We recommend contacting your insurance provider directly to confirm your specific coverage details.

My name is Maureen George and I specialize in medical billing for home birth and birth center midwives. I have worked with midwives in San Diego since 2015 and began billing insurance in 2018. I’m also a mom who has experienced two home births myself.
Optional benefits verification so you can clearly understand your out-of-network benefits (deductible and coinsurance) and how reimbursement typically works.
If you decide to use my services, I’ll email you my Service Agreement to sign. The fee is due at the time you sign the Agreement.
I’m available by phone or email to go over your benefits, discuss network/gap exception options, and explain the billing process based on your specific plan.
After your 6-week postpartum visit, I will provide you with superbills to submit through your insurance member portal. If you would like to provide me access to your portal, I’m happy to submit them for you. Claims generally take 30–45 days to process.
I’m available throughout the process to help ensure claims are processed and finalized correctly, and to help with appeals or member grievances if needed.
