Brigid Merritt was born in St. Louis, MO and moved to San Diego in 2007. After traveling extensively (where she met her husband-to-be), she decided to go back to school and earned a bachelor’s degree in Biology from San Diego State University with honors. Through the process of having two beautiful children of her own, she fell in love with midwifery and it became clear that midwifery was her calling in life. She first trained and volunteered as a doula with the Hearts and Hands program at USCD. She then decided to follow her heart and enrolled in a MEAC accredited midwifery program through the National College of Midwifery. During her training, she apprenticed with a few local midwifery practices, including Brooke Ray Midwife. She also worked at Best Start Birth Center as a birth assistant.
In 2024, she became a Licensed Midwife. On her time off, she enjoys spending time with family, traveling, bicycle riding, and being creative. I believe in the magic that occurs when a person is allowed the opportunity to trust their body and their instincts to deliver their baby. I’m genuinely in awe of the birthing process and feel honored to be part of this transformative moment in a pregnant person’s life.
